Rebranding to reshape for the future

Boyd Consultants (now Boyds), established just over 10 years ago, provides support, advice and expertise to the development of pharmaceutical and biotechnology medicinal products and medical devices.

Their service is a cost-effective solution for life science and biotech businesses as well as research institutes and universities requiring expert assistance in order to expedite the development, add value to their product and reach key milestones in research projects.

Founder and CEO, Professor Alan Boyd, approached V Formation to support and strengthen Boyd Consultants’ positioning in the market and also to increase profile and raise awareness through PR and external communications.

The first project involved a review of the brand. Following a client survey commissioned by Birmingham University, there were some fundamental findings that helped form a clear understanding of client experiences and perceptions. The biggest being that many clients believed Boyd Consultants was just Alan Boyd, when in fact there is an experienced team within the business.

The branding project looked at refreshing the image itself and modifying the name slightly, moving away from Boyd Consultants and rebranding as Boyds. A new identity and website was created and launched shortly after.

From that point, we were able to start to develop the communications plan and look at the key stories, projects and case studies that we can share in the market, to a clearly defined target audience.

A client newsletter was launched to mark the business’ tenth birthday and led to direct results and project opportunities for Boyds to work on.

Opening up the lines of communication with clients and contacts, both old and new is now generating new opportunities as well as elevating their position in the market through PR coverage in the sector press.
