V Formation’s senior PR consultant Lauren Mills has been appointed to the board of trustees of Big Difference Company, the charity behind the Leicester Comedy Festival.
Lauren will be responsible for helping Big Difference Company strengthen its relationship with the Leicestershire and Rutland business community and help the charity deliver its objectives.
Lauren follows in the steps of V Formation founder Hilary Campton who served as a trustee of Big Difference Company for 10 years until November 2016.
Big Difference Company was launched by Geoff Rowe 25 years ago, when he was a student at De Montfort University. He set up the charity both as a means to run the Leicester Comedy Festival and to help young people, children, older people and people with disabilities.
It also contributes around £3 million to the Leicester economy each year.
Lauren said: “I am honoured to have been appointed a trustee of Big Difference Company as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. It is a charity which works tirelessly to change the lives of disadvantaged people from all walks of life.
“It also puts on the annual Leicester Comedy Festival, which brings millions of pounds to the Leicestershire economy and which includes many charitable events as part of the two-week programme.
“I look forward to working with the other trustees and the team at Big Difference to ensure it is in a position to continue its good work for at least another quarter century.”
The 2018 Leicester Comedy Festival runs from 7th to 25th February – find out more here.
Martyn Allison, chairman of the board of trustees, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Lauren to the trustees who support Geoff and the team in continuing the annual festival and our community programme.
“We receive support from a range of businesses across the local area who get actively involved in what we do. Some of these are joining our growing group of sponsors, some support our promotional campaign and others give up their time to volunteer or become trustees of the charity.
“We look forward to working with Lauren and benefiting from her extensive network of contacts.”
Geoff Rowe, chief executive of Big Difference Company said: “Our trustees are really important as they support myself and the team and help guide the future direction of the charity and annual festival.
“We are celebrating our 25th anniversary this year and it is important that our trustees help shape what the future will look like for our charity so it can continue to develop for another 25 years!”
The other members of the BDC trustee board are: Emma Anderson, a director at law firm Freeths, David Boydon, Principal Lecturer at De Montfort University, Andrew Brown, a Rutland based farmer, business consultant Steph Osborn, Asgoo Pirbhai, a director of Reach Marketing and Professor Kevin Schurer, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Research and Enterprise at the University of Leicester.
