Interested in getting involved with the Midlands Family Business Awards?
This not-for-profit initiative is now in its sixth year and continues to attract successful family businesses from across the region.
The Midlands Family Business Awards is organised and hosted by third generation Nottinghamshire family business, The Wilson Organisation. There are lots of ways in which you can get involved, as Hilary, the Awards’ Creative Director, explains:
Enter the Midlands Family Business Awards
If you are a family business or an adviser to family businesses and you are based in the Midlands, then you are eligible to enter the awards and, with categories ranging from Employer of the Year to International Development, and from CSR to Fast Growth, there should be a category to suit your business.
By entering the Awards you join a friendly and close-knit community of like-minded business owners as well of course as the chance to win one of the prestigious FBA trophies! Read more about the benefits of entering awards.
Entries open in May and are completely free. To find out more about the categories and entry information for 2015 please email Ped Briggs at Wilsons, call Ped on 0115 942 7506 or visit the Family Business Awards website.
Sponsor one of the 10 Award Categories
If your company works with or supplies family businesses and you have an interest in the Midlands region, then the FBA could be the perfect fit. We work hard to ensure that the sponsorship delivers excellent benefits and many of our sponsors have been with us for many years.
Smith Cooper have lent their support since 2011 as headline sponsor of the Family Business of the Year Award and in 2014 we also had valuable support from Barclays, PwC, Crouch Logistics, Unum, Becketts Farm and Shakespeares. Barclays have supported the Awards since the first year and recently stated: “If the family business market is a key focus for you then these awards provide great access to some of the best family business awards out there.”
To discuss any available sponsorship opportunities and the associated benefits, please give Hilary a call on 07908 124772 or drop her an email.
Get involved with the judging process
The FBA is the only not-for-profit and fully independent awards programme for family businesses. Each of the award category judging panels is led by a successful family business owner, with support from industry experts and our sponsors. As a judge, we will need a day of your time during September, where you will meet with the six finalists in your award category. We’ve been fortunate to have many excellent judges, all of whom have given very generously of their time, insight and wisdom – we’ve detailed a few of them below.
The aim of the judging days is to provide a friendly and as informal experience as possible. Dragons’ Den this most certainly is not!
- Mark Samworth, Samworth Brothers
- Hussein Lalani, 99p Stores
- John Horrell, Dodson & Horrell
- Alex Polizzi
- Kurt Jacobs, Midlands Insider
- Dhiren Katwa, Asian Voice
- Alison Zhu, UKTI
