V Formation is delighted to report that two of its marketing mentees have recently been promoted.
V Formation has worked with Gabriella Kirk from beauty company QVS Global, since February 2017, providing monthly mentoring sessions. Gabriella joined QVS in January 2017 as marketing assistant and was promoted , just 12 months later in January 2018, to marketing executive.
Reflecting on the mentoring, Gabriella said:
“The mentoring sessions have really guided me through situations where I have felt less confident, including presenting to large audiences and speaking up in meetings. They have also helped me set clear objectives to further my career within marketing and offer the advice I need to be the best I can be.”
Lucy Burrows, from solicitors Ellis-Fermor & Negus, has received regular mentoring from V Formation since January 2017. Lucy has worked at Ellis-Fermor & Negus since September 2016 and was promoted from marketing assistant to marketing executive in November 2017. Lucy said:
“Working within a marketing ‘team of one’ can be isolating at times. Jemma has been an instrumental source of support and encouragement to me. I have benefited hugely from her experience within professional services.
Working with Jemma has enabled me to grow both in my work and professional self-development. She has a contagious passion for marketing and is a real delight to work with (and has great taste in coffee…). I’m so thankful for the time she has, and continues, to invest in me. Thank you Jemma!”
V Formation’s Jemma Taylor-Smith, who has provided mentoring support for Gabriella and Lucy said:
“I’m absolutely delighted for Gabriella and Lucy. It’s been great working with them both and it’s so rewarding to see them achieve success in their roles.”
Mentoring is important for career success. We can all benefit from the insight and wisdom of others further along in their careers, which is why having a mentor is essential for providing advice and encouragement as you develop and work towards your career goals.
A good mentor will act as a sounding board to give you confidence and perspective; provide guidance on career development, and share their experience and knowledge to help you navigate hurdles and avoid any potential pitfalls. These two recent promotions highlight just how beneficial regular mentoring can be.
