2018 has been another big year for V Formation, with a brand-new PR team and many successful client projects. The team at V would like to say a big thank you to our clients, contacts and our suppliers for their continued support this year.
Let’s take a look at some of our best bits:
Celebrating success with our clients
We have been delighted to see some of our clients triumph in winning various awards this year. Congratulations goes to Boyds who was awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise, International Trade for Outstanding Short-Term Growth in overseas sales for the last three years; to both Brady Solicitors who won the Legal Services award and Clear Building Management who were highly commended Medium Sized Managing Agent at the ARMA ACE Awards 2018, and to Rebecca Bull of My HR Hub, who was crowned Sole Trader of the Year at Nottingham Post Women in Business Awards 2018.
For the ninth year running, we also worked with the Midlands Family Business Awards– a not-for-profit initiative that showcases the successes of family-run firms in the region.

We were excited to, again, be involved in Alltruck plc’s 2018 Annual Awards night– an occasion where Alltruck’s colleagues, customers and suppliers joined together to celebrate the successes of the year.
Brand and website launches
This year the V Formation team have created a handful of fresh, exciting new websites alongside our design partners:
2018 also saw the launch of life sciences consultancy, TherapeutAix and advisory support and consulting service, Intuity Alliance. V Formation managed the launch of their brands with new websites, created by design agency Fuse4, PR and other marketing support.
We also partnered with design agency Adtrak to create a new website for Hallmark Consumer Services. A highlight of the website is the time-lapse video on the homepage – see for yourself by clicking on the image above!
We have been lucky enough to be involved in many exciting client campaigns this year, including a project launched by Glynis Wright & Co – Pulled Both Ways – an initiative which aims to highlight the emotional impact of divorce and separation on children through a series of short films.
We have also worked with Denise Friend, Founder of Friend Partnership, on a new piece of research: ‘Women in Business – can we truly have it all?’ to explore and identify the challenges faced by women in the workplace. The survey has received close-on 1000 responses and the campaign involved collaboration with Lodders Solicitors, NatWest and Page Group, who kindly sent the survey out to their female contacts. If you would like to complete the survey, please click the link here.
We have thoroughly enjoyed working with some of our clients on Facebook advertising this year, such as housing developers Cannon Kirk, and achieving great engagement and results from campaigns -such as a house selling in less than 24 hours! We’re looking forward to doing a lot more of this in 2019. Read Jemma’s advice on why you should consider Facebook advertising for your business.
We have celebrated the opening of two of our clients’ new premises this year. XenoGesis officially opened its new laboratories and offices at BioCity Nottingham’s state-of-the-art Discovery Building and Lodders Solicitors moved into new offices in one of Cheltenham’s most prominent business addresses. We hope you both enjoy your new homes.
New PR recruits and launch of crisis communications service
As well as securing some amazing national, regional, broadcast, and sector-based coverage for our clients, the PR team has launched a crisis communications service. Through this service, we work with businesses to develop a crisis management plan to help them to navigate complex situations that could affect their profitability, integrity or reputation.
You can find out more about our PR service package here.
Marketing nuts and bolts workshops
In June, we launched a series of marketing fundamentals workshops aimed at junior marketers looking to get to grips with the key elements of marketing. The four practical workshops covered the key marketing fundamentals of marketing planning, PR, content creation and campaign management.
We recently sent out a survey asking those who attended to feedback on the workshops. 100% of respondents said that they would attend another workshop and would recommend to a friend or colleague.
“I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and was sad to have only made one. It was really good to listen to others on the workshop too to see what they do. You guys are amazing.”
Michelle Newman, Knights plc
“Really informative, thorough workshop that covered all the important elements of PR and opened my eyes to some important aspects that I hadn’t considered.”
Claire Quinlan, Rothera Sharpe
If you missed out on the workshops in 2018 – don’t worry! We have plans to run them next year with more content and guest speakers so stay tuned.
The Innovation Community Lab
The Innovation Community Lab is a thirty-hour programme for ambitious new starters in SMEs run by Nottingham Trent University.
Members of the course are asked to identify an issue within their company and help to provide an innovative solution. Marketing Executive Amy took part in the course in Spring 2018, and helped to develop the idea of the marketing workshops that launched in June 2018. Our PR Assistant, Lucy participated in the Autumn 2018 ICL course, and generated the idea of a V Formation credentials brochure to display our projects and achievements to prospective clients.
Both Amy and Lucy presented the concept to other ICL course participants and their line managers from local SMEs across a variety of different sectors at a showcase event.
Sue supports MSc Marketing Management module at NTU
V Formation director, Sue Carr, was invited to support the MSc Marketing Management module at Nottingham Trent University this year. As an NTU alumnus, Sue continues to be involved in mentoring students as they search for internships, complete their final year as well as helping with their employability. As part of the module, Sue shares real-life case studies and works with the students on three mini cases, as well as sharing her own
We are delighted to announce that we are now working with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) to develop an online presence for the Bloomsbury SET. This is an exciting collaboration with London School of Economics, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and the School of African Studies, aiming to combat the threat from infectious disease and antimicrobial resistance.
V has also started working with MindforYou, an organisation that offers supported holidays for people living with dementia and their carers.
